We have tried to stick to the Interstate wherever possible as they have higher speed limits and are typically well maintained. Google earth has also been used to check out some key areas like turnaround points and gas stations along the way. A few phone calls have been made to local municipalities to check the condition of roads and local speed limits in rural areas.

Freaking awesome.  I am a huge fan of the road trip and this is about as hardcore as it gets.
