Beer Thursday - Schlafly Pale Ale brewed in St. Louis (episode #23)
This week I would like to take some time and explain exactly what is going on here. Many people following me probably just assumed a drinking problem but its more than that, its a drinking problem with style and adventure.
I consider myself a beer snob. After completing the Old Chicago World Beer Tour a couple years ago, the journey opened my eyes to how much shit beer is really out there. Once climbing the Old Chicago Beer mountain, I was lost, no direction. I had to do something to keep the fire burning! Which brings me to the weekly celebration that is Beer Thursday. Every week I buy a new beer (six pack) and enjoy. Some beers are old school, some kick my ass. I limit myself to 3 Thursday night, then the other 3 Friday night, but as of late that allotment has been varying more on the 3+ side.
Upon completion of the 6 pack, one bottle goes into the celebratory case that a married couple would traditionally put fine tableware. Mine contains the beers I have drank over the years as well as the bottles I used to steal while bartending years back.
A few FAQ: (I made up)
- Aaron, why do you drink alone isn’t that a little depressing? Thanks great question. No absolutely not. I’m single, live alone and do whatever the crap I want. Someday I’ll look back on this tradition and be thankful I got it out of my system now.
- Aaron, how come you don’t describe the beers you are drinking? I’m a beer snob not a connoisseur. It tastes good, I’ll drink it. Tastes like shit, I give it to Josh.
- Aaron, will you marry me? Yes.
